Traveling east from Penville you come to the village of Vielle Casse. The road along this coastline is one of the most dramatic in Dominica. The rich vegetation gives way to sheer drops down to the sea. The coastline is wild and rugged with a few quiet bays from which the fishermen go out to sea.

Get directions to the Catholic Church Presbytery and you will find one of the finest botanical gardens in Dominica. Father Maupetit has spent many years establishing this garden with plants from all over the world. You will see jade plants, rare nut trees from the Far East and strange, exotic palms. If you can make an appointment in advance this delightful, elderly priest will more than welcome your interest and questions.
